I started my agency in 1986 for the most part because I wasn't able to get a job in an advertising agency. So I actually got out a phone book and started calling companies cold and saying: 'Hi, I'm Mark, and I'd like to stop by and show you my portfolio.' The problem was, I didn't have much of a portfolio at the time either, so I quickly changed up my pitch and started looking for ways to get potential customers to talk.
For the last several years, Kelly and I have been rethinking what we want for our lives and business, and have made a lot of changes to how we go to market. It's funny, when I was younger, we attracted a lot of blue-chip clients and did some good work for good money. But to be honest, I'm not sure we were in a position to really help any of those clients. At the time we were riding on a tail of Anchor Food Products before they sold, and parroted a lot of what we did for them.
For several years we slipped and slid, and just recently started dreaming again. We're a boutique marketing communications firm with a lot of wisdom, award winning creative and a level of integrity that is unmatched. Our dream is to work with great little companies who want to grow to a saturation point, then send them tickets to the Cayman Islands.
